On-page SEO Lancashire: a quick guide

I provide an on-page SEO service for Lancashire.

How search engines understand the content.

On-page SEO involves various methods that will boost the position of a page in the natural search results on search engines and with AI searches. Include your keywords naturally in the text.

Header tags

The main heading should use <H1> tags to indicate the main subject of a page. Next, use <H2> tags for subcategories. For longer articles it can be useful to use <h3> tags under the <H2> tags.

Nesting

URL structure

The URL structure is the link that you click on for the page. Check that this includes your keywords and that the platform you are using has not used a random jumble of letters and numbers! Such as https://www.electronincantation.co.uk/seo/abc123

Meta description

The meta description is the box used by search engines to provide a summary of a page or post. This has to be a certain length, and most CMS platforms will let you create this. The description should include the keyword.

Next, don’t forget the image tags.

Image tags

If you are in WordPress, you can click on the left sidebar menu in the backend and open the media library. Click on an image, and you will see the metadata associated with that image on the right. These are the image tags, such as the alt tag and the title. These should match the subject of the post. The image shown here was created with a one-sentence prompt in AI. Good for content creators, bad for graphic designers. The two-edged sword of AI!

Internal and external linking

Lastly, internal and external linking is important, as the search engines follow these links to understand the structure and relevance of youe site.
